“We are happy we are able to support Habitat for Humanity Kamloops to continue to make affordable homeownership a reality for families in Kamloops. We wanted to support their work in supporting local families by improving their living conditions and providing opportunities they did not previously have. We love to support organizations that are making such a substantial contribution to their local community” said Lenore Henry, Van Kam Freightways Ltd.

“Every donation helps us to continue to build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable home ownership in the Kamloops community. This donation comes at a very important time and will be directly applied to our new duplex project in Westsyde that will be home to two families.” said Kim Cassar Torreggiani, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Kamloops.

Habitats mission is to build affordable homes in the community and partner with families to provide ”a hand up, not a hand out”. Habitat homeowners volunteer up to 500 hours and pay an affordable mortgage to own their home, helping them build a strong foundation and the financial stability to help plan for their children’s futures. Studies done by both the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the Boston Consulting Group reveal that Habitat homeowners have reduced reliance on food banks, better educational and employment outcomes, and improved health.
